Understand what anxiety is
Did you know that anxiety is part of our normal brain function? It may help you to understand more about the fight, flight and freeze responses and why anxiety, believe it or not, is normal.
Understanding and identifying your feelings of anxiety
Feelings of anxiety can be broken down into:
- your physical reactions - e.g. butterflies, sweating and breathlessness.
- your thoughts - e.g. overthinking/ruminating and catastrophising; and
- your behaviour - e.g. avoidance
Utilising coping strategies
Various types of coping strategies can help you manage your physiological responses, the negative, unhelpful thoughts, challenge your behaviour and support you to come down from a panic attack.
I have personally recorded a relaxation technique that are free for you to download here.

Relaxation can help reduce physical reactions.
Consider lifestyle changes
Looking at your diet, stimulating substances, how you spend your time, and your perspective can alleviate anxiety.
Diet - reduce fat, sugar and salt and eat a healthy balanced diet ensuring your intake of vitamins and minerals.
Time - identify any imbalance of demands on you and find ways to create more free time for yourself.
Working towards being patient and compassionate with yourself go along way to support you to feel calmer and maintain a healthy perspective on life's challenges.
